Boglárka Nagy is a young painter who has earned a noted spot on the palette of Hungarian contemporary art. Beside individual and group exhibitions, she has already attracted bids at international auctions. The number of her collectors not just in Hungary but worldwide is continuously growing. She is the first Hungarian painter who got into LUMAS portfolio in 2017. Her works are expressive, lively and composed with clear, rich colors steeped with the spirit of the 21st century. Her portrayal of the human is particular and indipendent.
Every piece of her series called ‘SUN WATER AIR’ is characterized with light, blue skies, freedom and life-affirmation. Her figures radiate harmony and some sort of a positive vibe which affects the viewer. As if we’re on a beach or in the mountains, we visually sense the sunshine that lights up and dominates the paintings. The latest pieces of the series came under the influence of Boglárka’s travels in Southeast-Asia. One can find imprints of the very different world of Japan, wind-swept beaches of Vietnam, South China Sea, deep beauty of Cambodia, simple lives of buddhist monks and the clear-out philosophy of their religion. These paintings are about freedom, inner actions of the soul and diverge from the western consumptive culture. The new, deeper imagery of the characters overpoint Boglárka Nagy’s foregoing lightsome, easy, sometimes frivolous and provocative intonation. Both colors and subjects are more sensitive and lyrical.
